The Hindu Rituals for the Departed persons
The cycle of BIRTH and DEATH is a continuous process for all beings born. (Exceptions are one in a million as stated by Bhagavan Sri Krishna in Bhagavad Gita).
which can be broadly classified into the following three groups:
1) Reproduction for progeny
2) Doing duties laid down in the smritis and in the law.
3) Performing the rites for the departed and loved ones.
The responsibilities at serial nos. 1 and 2 can be achieved in the normal course of life. The onus
of the third category of duties towards the departed souls rests on the children.
Three levels of rites are performed for the departed persons:
1. On the death of a person the cremation, followed by the rituals for the first 13 days.
2. The Monthly ceremonies also called as the “MASIKA”, are performed on the 27th Day, 30th Day, 45th Day, 60th Day, 90th Day, 171st Day, 180th Day, 210th Day, 240th Day, 270th Day and this is of half day duration. 1st year annual ceremonies of 4 days.
3. After this every year on the same day of the Hindu calendar comprising the day of Death or THITHI, the Full moon / No Moon cycle and corresponding star at the time of death.
It has been largely observed that after the death of a person, following the first thirteen days, the subsequent MASIKA or monthly ceremonies is not conducted/performed by a section of people. Also it has been observed the annual ceremonies are not conducted/performed by many. The reasons can be many. The well being of a family unit and its successors largely depends on following the above ceremonies with utmost sincerity and adherence to the principles thereof.
It is precisely for this reason that we have undertaken the arduous task of performing the MASIKAS or monthly ceremonies and the annual ceremonies for the departed Souls – Where it’s not possible or difficult for the children to do the same. This righteous duty is undertaken by us on behalf of the children with utmost sincerity, devotion and following the strict code of conduct as prescribed in the sastras and smritis for doing these ceremonies.

The above is done for people who don’t have male progeny or are unable to perform due to sickness or lack of time due to work pressures. NRI people living in distant places with no access to resources for performing the ceremonies in an alien environment are also welcome.
